Infant Feeding + Lactation Support

Healthy orofacial development begins at birth—and feeding is one of the first and most important functions an infant must master. Our Infant Feeding & Lactation Support services are designed to guide families through early challenges while promoting optimal oral function and growth.

Feeding difficulties in infants can often be linked to tethered oral tissues (TOTs) such as tongue ties (ankyloglossia), lip ties, or buccal ties. These restrictions can interfere with the baby’s ability to latch, suck, swallow, and breathe effectively during breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Left untreated, these issues may impact not only feeding success but also long-term orofacial development—affecting jaw growth, speech, breathing, and oral habits.

Our functional approach to infant feeding includes:

  • A comprehensive assessment of oral structure and function

  • Identification of possible TOTs and their impact on feeding

  • Collaboration with pediatric providers

  • Guidance on pre- and post-frenectomy care (if a release is indicated)

  • Gentle oral motor exercises to support feeding

  • Education and support for parents to promote positive feeding experiences and proper oral development

We understand how early intervention can shape a child’s future. Our goal is to help infants feed more effectively and comfortably—setting the foundation for healthy speech, breathing, and facial development.
